Gender Violence Questions
1) Latin America has made huge progress in
getting women into government, why is violence still such a large problem in
your opinion?
Sexism is an
important issue that started many years ago. Since
human beings started to exist they had a sexism thinking, because the unusual is that the man go out hunting and the women stay in the cave taking care of the baby, this is similar
to what we live today. Now a days some women and men believe that women can not
be firefighter or, for the simple reason of not being men. But
the only reason why sexism exist is because some women do not enforce their
rights.
2) What steps can be
taken to improve the situation for women in Latin America?
·
Define
and understand what is machism and the causes and consequences.
·
Locate
and identify sexism. Sexism is often transferred by women to their sons at the
process of growing.
·
Find
a way for women to enforce their rights.
·
Reorganize
the historical memory and include women in important facts.
·
Change
the idea that women have less capacity than men.
3) What are some
obstacles to taking these steps? In
other words, if there is an obvious solution, why is it not being taken?
It’s hard to
believe that one of the biggest obstacle are women, because they don’t enforce
their rights and mistakenly transferred to their children sexism actions. Men
are another obstacle, because they believe that they are superior to women in strength
or intelligence. Finally the government is another obstacle because it doesn’t care
about this type of issue, but they don’t know that this theme is so important
as delinquency or terrorism. Many women are hit by their husband and sometimes
they kill themselves thanks to sexism, but government doesn’t protect or
guarantee justice to the victims.
